What are the rules you should remember before you play Kabaddi?
1. The game starts with the tossing of the coin. The toss winning team will choose between the ground or the chance to attack (raid) first.
2. At the beginning of the Kabaddi Competition, there must be at least seven players in each team.
3. A raider should begin the cant kabaddi.. Kabaddi before entering the opposite court. The cant should be clear and a raider should continue this cant in one breath till the returns in his court. If he makes mistake, he shall be declared out.
4. Any player, when he goes out of the end line he shall be declared out. An umpire orders such a player to go out of the ground.
5. At the end of the first half the players who have remained '"not out" shall start the second half with the same players.
6. Before the start of the second half, the teams shall exchange their courts during the rest period. In the second half, the team which did not attack (raid) first in the first half will he given the chance of attack.
7. When the raider is returning to his court after escaping from the hold of the opponents, no opponent will be allowed to chase him. But if he is returning simply after touching the anti-raider, he can be chased by the anti-raiders.
8. As long as the raider is in the opponent's court, no player of the opposite team can cross the centre line. A player who does so will be given 'out'.
9. As soon as the struggle starts, the lobbies are included in the play field and after the struggle starts, the players can use the lobbies.
10. The players who are 'out' will seat in the sitting block. A players sitting in the sitting block will be revived when his team mate raids in an opponent court and comes back safety after touching one of the anti-raiders.
11. If more than one players attack at the same time and touch any of the opponent player, the opponent player shall not be made out and their chance to raid shall be declared completed.
12. No player can have any unwanted gesture like deliberate push etc during the game. When this situation occurs, the player who pushes deliberately shall be declared out by an umpire and the raider shall be safe.
13. Even after having a warming by an umpire, if any team commits such a foul again, the opponent team shall be awarded one point for this technical fault. Against a technical point, no player shall be revived.
14. When a team mate manages to put out the entire opponent team and comes to his court safely, the raiding team shall be awarded a 'Lona' and two points shall be awarded in addition to the points scored by putting out individual players.
15. After having awarded the "Lona" all the opponent players shall enter their court and the team having the turn of raiding shall raid. Thus the game shall continue till the time is over.
16. When any player crosses the bonus line, he shall (his team) be awarded one point for that. While crossing the bonus line there should be at least six players. Against bonus point, no player shall be revived.
17. Every team shall be given two time outs of 30 seconds each, in each half. This time out can be availed by a captain of a team or a coach with the permission of an umpire. During time out player shall go out of the ground.
18. When any player is injured, the umpire shall give the time out. This will be considered official time out. It should not be extended for more than two minutes.
19. A chief Referee or an assistant umpire will show the players different coloured cards to give them the warming, temporary dismissal etc. as below.
- Green Card- for warming
- Yellow Card- for Temporary dismissal (for 2 minutes)
- Red Card- Dismissal for the match or the entire tournament.
