        All the rooms of a house should have enough number of doors and windows in adequate size so that adequate light can enter into the house and each room. Also, a provision should be there so that at least through one of these, direct sunlight can enter into house/room for few hours of the day. Sunlight with its ultra violet, rays has a capacity to kill number of harmful organisms. With sunlight, room temperature increases, and humidity decreases, so also the growth of the organisms. 

        Also, because of good illumination in house, eyes are less strained to carry out the activities like reading, sewing etc. Domestic accidents which happen owing to low light is also prevented.

Adequate ventilation:

What is called a Adequate ventilation?

        Indoor air also gets contaminated by human activities if house is poorly ventilated. Carbon dioxide released during expiration and organisms are liberated through nose, mouth and skin which can be in high concentration in the house in comparison to outdoor air. Thus, it is imperative that the contaminated air should be regularly replaced by the fresh air from outside, so that the health of the persons living inside the house would not be endangered. 

        For adequate ventilation the house should have enough number of doors and windows with adequate size, so that adequate ventilation can be maintained. Out of these, any two should at least be opposite to each other for good ventilation mechanism. Additional ventilation can be provided in rooms. The size of these doors, windows and ventilation should not be less than the 40% of floor area.

Overcrowding:

Is Overcrowding is dangerous for us?

        In overcrowded house transmission of infection is faster. Infection rate of diseases linked with respiratory system like cough, common cold, tuberculosis is higher in overcrowded houses. Besides that, skin diseases like scabies, eczema, dermatitis are also transmitted in higher proportion. Overcrowded house has also an impact on the psychological growth of the children. The child cannot concentrate in studies. It also affects the privacy, thus the growth. One room should be there for every two persons of the house.
